One or two days for acclimatization day is a must in any high altitude adventure. And peak expedition is the supreme of all of the high adventures. You cannot go straight for the climb without a single acclimatization day. Doing so can cause you to get caught by altitude sickness.

This sickness is prone to any person travelling at an altitude above 3000 meters. And, Mera Peak climbing goes even higher than that as you know the highest point is the summit itself with 6,476m. You have to breathe the air at the height of 6,476m on this Mera Peak Climbing.

The Day is Guide will teach you for Climbing Techniques as well for essential’s technique while Mera Peak Climbing.

Without acclimatization before the summit day, you will have an increased risk of altitude sickness. Your body needs some time to adapt to the newer altitudes. Therefore, this rest or acclimatization day at Khare is included in the Mera Peak climbing itinerary. On this day, you will spend the entire day around Khare which is the gateway to Mera Base Camp.

On the eleventh day, you will walk on the rocky trail towards Mera High Camp. The trek heads to the top of Mera La Pass (5415m) and descends slightly to the base camp. Thereon, it is a gradual ascend all the way to Mera High Camp. You can catch glimpses of Mt Everest (8848m), Makalu (8463m), Cho Oyu (8201m), and Lhotse (8414m) from the high camp. Overnight stay at Mera High Camp.

This is the main day of the trek, as you will reach the summit on this day. You will start the trek as early as possible, at around 3 am. The trail is steep up the Mera Glacier. The snowy path with steep climbs will also require the use of various equipment brought beforehand. On reaching the top, the tall mountains and beautiful landscapes of snow-capped mountains will make your heart leap with joy. Here, you can witness mountains including the Mt. Everest (8,848m), Cho-Oyu (8,201m), Lhotse (8,414m), Makalu (8,463m), Kanchenjunga (8,586m), Nuptse (7,861m), and numerous other peaks. After some time, the team will return to the high camp and then to Khare. Overnight stay at Khare.

After successfully reaching the summit, you will now be on the way back from Kothe. You will walk along the route previous taken to reach Kothe from Khare. Passing pasturelands on the way, you also go past Saibai Tsho Lake. Greenery begins to reappear as you head to Gordishung. Thereon, the trek follows the Inkhu River for most of the occasions to settle at Kothe. Overnight stay at Kothe.

You will walk a little more than the previous day to reach Thuli Kharka from Kothe. This route is also different than the one you took earlier on the trek. The way to Thuli Kharka involves the crossing of many beautiful streams that are visually pleasing. You will make ascends and descends and reach Chortens along the way. The journey ends as you reach Thuli Kharka. Overnight stay at Thuli Kharka.

The fifteenth day is the last day of trekking on this trip. You will leave Thuli Kharka and walk to reach Lukla. You will keep on climbing till you reach Zatrwa La Pass and cross it at 4610 meters. Travel Insurance

It is a condition upon joining any of Himalaya Summit Club trips that all clients be insured for comprehensive expenses that might incur due to medical issues or accidents (this includes air ambulance, helicopter rescue, and treatment costs). Please note that we don’t arrange or sell insurance.

Acclimatization

This trek’s itinerary is planned with a high degree of awareness of AMS (Acute Mountain Sickness). Going up at higher altitudes too fast causes a medical condition serious enough to result in death. The higher the altitude, the less oxygen will be in the air. For example, at an altitude above of 5000m, there is 50% less oxygen than at sea level. Therefore, our body needs many days to adapt to an environment with less-oxygen.

Himalaya Summit Club advises guest(s) with known heart, lungs or blood diseases to consult their doctor before traveling. Mild headaches, fever, loss of appetite or stomach disorders are symptoms of AMS. Check out “Altitude illness” by Dr Jim Duff, whether once you getting in Kathmandu you can we will arrange to meet with Expedition Doctor Mr. Nima Namgel Sherpa. Himalaya Summit Club itineraries are designed to try to prevent AMS as much as possible. But, it is important to remember that some visitors are more vulnerable than others.

Spring (March to May) and Autumn (September to November) are the best months for this trip. Although this trip can be taken during winter, there might be a problem due to obstructed pass due to ice or snow. The trekking routes are crowded during Spring and Autumn but during Monsoon and Winter the routes are not packed and we could enjoy rather best of nature.
