Tsho Rolpa Trek with Yalung Ri Climbing is one of the toughest and least-traveled trekking trails in Nepal. The trails on the journey are surrounded by mountains like Ramdung (5,925m), Chukyima Go (6,258m), and Chobuje (6,686m) among others. Yalung Ri climbing is one of the easiest climbing peak situated in the west Rolwaling Valley. This journey offers us a perfect blend of the unspoiled culture of Sherpas, alpine forests, and the Himalayas. The view of Gauri Shankar Himal is clear all along the trek which marks the border of Tibet and Nepal.

Tsho Rolpa Trek with Yalung Ri Climbing starts with the scenic drive from Kathmandu to Singati along the Araniko Highway. The drive will reward us with scenic beauties of nature, rural settlements, and verdant landscapes. This trek contains the settlement areas of Sherpas and Limbu, rhododendron forests, small passes, suspension bridges, and farmlands. Our trekking continues along the Singati, Orangdanda, Simigaon, and Kyalche and then to Bedding. The trekking trail along this route follows Tama Koshi River and, later, the journey continues along Rolwaling River. We will encounter many villages with mixed ethnicity and, from Beding, we will climb one of the oldest Sherpa village Na which is situated just below the beautiful Tsho Rolpa Lake. The lake is majesty in stature and offers astounding views of the surrounding with the horizon decorated by the Himalayas. From the lake vicinity, we walk along the summer pasture lands and climb to Yalung Base Camp. The peak climbing, although easier than other peaks, demands considerable efforts to reach the summit at 5,647 meters. This trek offers us with the magnificent sights of the Mt. Langtang (7,227m), Mt. Everest (8,848m), Gaurishankar(7,134m), and Melungtse(7,181m).

At Himalaya Summit Club, we do our absolute best to ensure that the clients do not come across any obstacles during their trips. We offer multiple options for traveling in Nepal and also provide you with the luxury to modify the trip itineraries as you see fit.

On your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, our Airport representative will greet you and will transfer you to the hotel. In the evening you can walk along the streets of the city and enjoy the local cuisines while doing so. Overnight stay at a hotel in Kathmandu.

After having our early morning breakfast, we will drive in a private jeep towards the east and then to the northeast along with the views scenic green valleys and high mountains. On our way, we will visit the Bhimeshwor Temple in Dolakha and continues towards the campsite of Tama Koshi river and then to Singati. Overnight stay at Singati.

Our trek heads towards the north following the Tama Koshi River along the deep valley crossing the rivers many times over the suspension bridges. The trail further continues along the forests and passes few tranquil villages with the rewarding views of Gaurishankar (7,134m). We will find a few Buddhist prayer flags hanging along the trees of the forests until we will reach Orangdanda. Overnight stay at Orangdanda.

We will leave Orangdanda in the early morning and head towards the east. The trail gradually ascends along the bank of Tama Koshi River before a sharp and steep ascent to Simigaon. It is a Sherpa and Tamang village and also hosts a number of monasteries in the village premise. The view of GaurishankarHimal (7,134m) is clear from here. Overnight stay at Simigaon.

Today is a short day trek along the verdant forest of rhododendron and bamboo leading us to the RolwalingValley? We continue along the ridgeline of the Rolwaling valley leading us to our destination Kyalche. From there, we will descend back along the bank of the river where we will set our camp.Overnight stay at Kyalche.

The trail will steeply climb along the tropical alpine vegetation with the views of the surrounding mountains. As we ascend further in the Rolwaling Valley, we will see the forest starts to thin gradually. After a few hours of ascending we will reach Beding which is a small village and is marked by a monastery. The locals may offer you the Chyang or yak butter tea. Overnight stay at Beding.

As we are suddenly gaining altitude we need to acclimatize to the thinning of the air at this altitude. The best way is the hike as high as we can from Beding to acclimatize properly to this environment. A day hike to Menlung La pass (5,616m) will be the best option for us from where we can see the many high mountains surrounding this region, glaciers, waterfalls and few settlements. In the evening, we will descend back to Beding.Overnight stayat Beding.

A short and steep walk will take us to Na village. Today the trail is short but ascends steeply along the Rolwaling valley. Initially, the trail climbs along the base of the valley and starts to climb along the south direction of Rolwaling valley leading us to the top of the valley and entering to Yalung valley. The ascent is really tough but the view from above is worth of all tiredness. The two valley meets at a right angle making the ascent more difficult. Overnight stay at Yalung Ri Base Camp.

After a beautiful and tough experience climbing the Yalung Ri Base Camp, we start our journey by climbing the Yalung Ri (5,647m). The top of the peak offers the most magnificent views of the surrounding mountains. After some time enjoying the views of the high mountains we will slowly start to descend to the base camp and then to SanmaKharka. We will set up our camp at SanmaKharka. Overnight stay at SanmaKharka.

Today, we will start to slowly descend from SanmaKharka to Na village. On reaching Na village we will walk around two hours to reach the beautiful Tsho Rolpa Lake. We can see the beautiful reflection of the high mountains and blue sky on the water of the lake. We will explore the lake vicinity for the rest of the day and camp on the lakeside. Overnight stayat Tsho Rolpa Lake.

In the early morning enjoying the beautiful sunrise view over the mountain we will walk back to Na village and continue to descend along the trail across the Rolwaling valley and then to the alpine forest leading us to Beding. Retracing our steps, we pass Dhogre and follow the Rolwaling River to reach Beding.Overnight stayat Beding.

The trail descends steeply across the southern slopes of Rolwaling Valley and continues to descend along the forested landscapes of rhododendron and orchids. From Beding, we pass Chhimu, Jobalu, and Nyamare to take a different route from the one we took when we made the ascent. A short walk after diverting from the initial trail will take us to Shakpa Kharka.Overnight stay at Shakpa Kharka.

As we leave Shakpa Kharka, we will descend steeply along the enchanting landscapes. we cross a suspension bridge over the Tama Koshi River. Useful Info

The Trekking Group

For the TshoRopla trek with Yalungri Peak climbing, there will be one UIAA Certified Trek leader, assistant Trek leader (5 trekkers:1 assistant guide) and Sherpa porters for luggage carrying (2 trekkers:1 porter) This arrangement ensures that should anybody in the group is sick, the trip can still go ahead as planned. We can run the trek for groups of any size, but usually, it is a maximum of twelve people as we’ve found this to be the optimum size for a successful trip. However, if you’d like to book this trip for a large group then that can be arranged too.

Accommodations

We will be staying at Hotel Marshyandi/Moon light Hotel/Yatri Suites Spa Hotel in Kathmandu, and teahouses during the trek. All accommodations are on twin-shared basis. Single supplement will be served on request and will cost an additional USD. Himalaya Summit Club will arrange rooms with attached washrooms; however, teahouses in some places only have shared washing and toilet facilities. Also note that single rooms are readily available in Kathmandu and the trekking regions at lower elevation but it might be difficult to find them at higher elevations.

Meals

During our trek, we can enjoy authentic Nepalese food as well the more common international cuisine (Tibetan, Continental, Italian, Indian, etc.). Breakfast and dinner will be served from the teahouse or from a lodge menu where we spend the night whereas lunch will be served on the way to the next destination. All meals will be provided during trekking while only breakfast will be available in Kathmandu. There will also be welcome and farewell dinners for guests.

Travel Insurance

It is a condition upon joining any of Himalaya Summit Club trips that all clients be insured for comprehensive expenses that might incur due to medical issues or accidents (this includes air ambulance, helicopter rescue, and treatment costs). Please note that we don’t arrange or sell insurance.

Acclimatization

This trek’s itinerary is planned with a high degree of awareness of AMS (Acute Mountain Sickness). Going up at higher altitudes too fast causes a medical condition serious enough to result in death. The higher the altitude, the less oxygen will be in the air. For example, at an altitude above of 5000m, there is 50% less oxygen than at sea level. Therefore, our body needs many days to adapt to an environment with less-oxygen. During this trip, a separate day is set aside in Beding for acclimatization.

Himalaya Summit Club advises guest(s) with known heart, lungs or blood diseases to consult their doctor before traveling. Mild headaches, fever, loss of appetite or stomach disorders are symptoms of AMS. Check out “Altitude illness” by Dr Jim Duff, whether once you getting in Kathmandu you can we will arrange to meet with Expedition Doctor Mr. NimaNamgel Sherpa. Himalaya Summit Club itineraries are designed to try to prevent AMS as much as possible. But, it is important to remember that some visitors are more vulnerable than others.

Physical Condition & Experience Requirements

This is a moderate trek suitable for passionate walkers who have the ability to walk at least 5-7 hours a day with a light day pack. Walking in higher altitudes is more physically demanding than walking in lower altitudes; however, if we are in excellent health with average physical fitness and have a positive attitude, self confidence and strong determination, we can accomplish this trek successfully. Exercising and jogging regularly for some weeks prior to the trip is a good idea to enhance our strength and stability. Past hiking experience would be an asset but no technical skill is required for this trip. It is vital for participants with pre-existing medical conditions such as heart, lung, and blood diseases to consult their doctor before taking the trip. It is also advised that you inform Himalaya Summit Club before booking the trek.

Best Time to Travel

Spring (March to May) and Autumn (September to December) are the best months for this trip. Although this trip can be taken during winter, there might be a problem due to obstructed pass due to ice or snow. The trekking routes are crowded during Spring and Autumn but during Monsoon and Winter the routes are not packed and we could enjoy rather best of nature.
